Adib, Raihan, and their son are Afghan Christians who recently arrived in Canada as refugees. Adib was forced under threat of arrest to leave his home in Afghanhistan due to his faith in Jesus. After arriving in India, where he later met Raihan, Adib worked with Obed and Ahmad in leading the Afghan Church in New Delhi until they came to Canada. Their families are now reunited again and serve the Afghan Church in Canada together.

Adib's testimony

Adib is from Mazār-i-Sharīf, the fourth-largest city in Afghanistan. He became a believer in Jesus in 2005 and joined the underground church there. He was found out in 2008 and had to flee to India, where he joined the Afghan Church of New Delhi and met Obed and Ahmad. (Article from Outlook India.)

He went on to do studies in theology and seminary and led the Afghan Church together with Obed and Ahmad. However, Afghan Muslims in India continue to target Afghan Christians. These brothers and their families faced persecution, violence, and serious threats to their lives. First Obed and Tarana, then Ahmad and his family were granted refugee status in Canada, leaving Adib and his family behind.

Adib and Raihan applied for and received refugee status with the UNCHR, and the Afghan Church in Canada sponsored their family to come as refugees. But even after the Canadian government approved it, local officials in India, looking for bribes, repeatedly denied their clearance. Finally, after months of denials, the family was approved to leave the country, and have now safely arrived to start their new life in Canada, and continue their work of establishing Afghans in Christ.
